Change the Battery of an Archos Gmini 400 Series

How to Change the Battery of an Archos Gmini 400 Series

Archos may attempt to charge you $65 to change the battery in an Archos Gmini 402. You can do it yourself, and it's easier than it appears.

Steps
1.Open the back panel of Archos with a tiny screwdriver. There are two screws on the bottom and one on the side. Remove these and the back pops right off.

2.You will see the battery sitting on top of hard drive. If you remove the hard drive you will notice the battery is soldered right on to the hard drive. You don't need to do this though.

3.Clip the black and red wire to remove the old battery. Clip towards the top of the battery to leave plenty of wiring to work with.

4.With a wire cutter, strip a small amount of tubing from the ends of both wires.

5.Join the wiring of the new battery (which can be found online for under $20, including shipping) to the wiring of the old one by twisting the ends together.

6.Pop the back on and screw it down. Enjoy.

Warnings
Do not mess with soldering unless you know what you're doing. It's not essential.
