Record Computer Sounds with Goldwave

How to Record Computer Sounds with Goldwave

Ever wish you could record that music video? Want to change a file format? Follow the steps in this guide to learn how you can do that with the computer and sound card that you already own.

Steps

1.Get a cable. This cable will need to have a standard 1/8 audio jack on both ends. If this is confusing, think double sided headphone jack.

2.Connect one end into your headphone jack and the other into your microphone port.

3.Get some audio recording software such as Goldwave or anything that may already come on your computer. (Download Goldwave free here.)

4.Open whatever you want to record with Windows Media Player or any playback software other than Goldwave (eg. RealPlayer, QuickTime, etc.)

5.Go into Goldwave and open a new file. Then, press the record button.

6.Go into your other playback software and start playing the song/file you want to record.

7.When the song is over, stop it from playing and then stop Goldwave from recording.

8.Save the Goldwave file as whatever format you want and you are done.

Tips

1.You can probably get a cable from radio shack (about $4 -- part #42-2420).

2.Goldwave can convert files by doing File --> Save As and selecting the format.

4.This is great for recording a music video on the internet that you can't download.
